What is MEST?

The vision of MEST is to create work and wealth locally in Africa by training, supporting and investing in tech entrepreneurs who can launch scalable businesses. MEST offers top aspiring entrepreneurs from across Africa a sponsored, 12-month training program, including support from global mentors. We invest in companies that come from our training program, and continue to offer hands-on support for our portfolio through our incubators. Members of the wider African tech ecosystem are welcome to join our tech community by renting desks in our space or participating in MEST events.

The MEST Story

MEST was launched in Accra, Ghana through the Meltwater Foundation in 2008, by Jorn Lyseggen, CEO of Meltwater, a global leader in media intelligence and Outside Insight. He believes that talent is everywhere though opportunity is not, and that with the right support and guidance these aspiring entrepreneurs can build successful and scalable tech businesses. This belief is the foundation for MEST, which sets out to prove that a new generation of young, successful global software entrepreneurs can originate in Africa.
