Celebrating the life of Complete Farmer’s Charles Ofosuhene

Thea Sokolowski, Tuesday December 18th 2018

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Complete Farmer Co-Founder and COO, and member of the MEST family, Charles Ofosuhene. He was a dear friend, devoted entrepreneur and vital part of the MEST and KIC communities. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

In 2017, Charles, affectionately nicknamed ‘Farmer Charles’, and his co-founders launched Complete Farmer, a “crowdfarming” platform that enables users to invest in sustainable farms and monitor farming activities without discarding their daily routine using data-driven cultivation protocols and IoT-enabled precision farming. Following their successful pitch during the Kosmos Innovation Challenge, we welcomed them into the MEST and Kosmos Innovation Centre families.

Since launch, the team has seen great success. They won the Best Startup Award at DEMO Africa in Accra this past July. Earlier this month, the founders attended TechCrunch Battlefield in Lagos, where they were chosen from among hundreds of African startups to pitch on the global TechCrunch stage. Charles has contributed greatly to the company's success.

Today, the Complete Farmer team remains dedicated to the future of the company and is proud to continue pursuing their collective vision of enabling leading innovative agribusiness solutions in Africa to secure sustainable livelihoods and food security, in Charles' honor.

“Charles’ dedication and drive was always motivating, and his can-do spirit kept the team moving forward in tough times,” Co-founder & CEO Desmond Koney said. “There were times we thought of pivoting this business model for an easier alternative, but Charles would always remind us that “farming is big business”. We are dedicated to pursuing this mission in honor of our brother.” Please find Desmond and the team's perspective on the Complete Farmer blog, here.

The team at MEST has launched a fundraiser on Payputt, found here, to aid the Ofosuhene family in covering funeral costs. If you would like to extend condolences to Charles, please reach out to info@completefarmer.com . We ask that in this difficult time, the privacy of the Complete Farmer team and Ofosuhene family are respected.
